Jeremy Shockey

There are times when it’s fun to just be a fan. I’m a Saints fan, and I’m for sure a Jeremy Shockey fan. Last season, I had the opportunity to photograph the Saints opener against the Lions. It’s only the 2nd Saints game I’ve ever been to, which is amazing since I’m from South Louisiana (never could afford tickets). This was an amazing experience for me to say the least. The biggest highlight of my day was catching a shot of Jeremy Shockey catching a touchdown pass RIGHT in front of me. I mean dead on. Come to find out later, it was his first as a Saint, which made it even better. I have no idea why, to this day, this shot was never published. But it’s probably the best shot I’ve ever taken at a sporting event. And seeing as how I probably won’t shoot the Saints ever again, it made it that much better. I got wind that Jeremy was coming to Monroe for an autograph signing and I immediately got my ticket. $60 for a signature, in person, of the guy in my all time favorite shot….yes please. But, in being the good fan, I wanted Jeremy to have a copy too. Since I know for a fact I was the only person in the position to shoot that, and it was never published…I knew for a fact he didn’t have this shot nor had he seen it. Not to mention, it was his FIRST touchdown as a Saint. It was only the right thing to do. So we went to the signing and I have to admit, getting the autograph was awesome. He was a super cool guy and I was really impressed. BUT. The highlight was actually giving him his copy. He seemed very gracious and immediately knew what the shot was of. That was so much cooler than me getting mine signed. I feel like I made his day a little better. Anyway, thanks to Jeremy and Jaimie of Jaimie’s Sports Cards in Monroe, LA. It was a blast. Enjoy my little ‘Shockumentary’ we made:

Sean Falyon – Wonderful Life (Motion Family Victory)

Another video I edited for Motion Family has surfaced, but this time it’s a lot different. I edited the video for Sean Falyon’s ‘Wonderful Life’, shot by fellow Louisiana Tech alum, Diwang Valdez of Motion Family. I heard the song before the hard drive arrived to me and was instantly excited. It wasn’t until after I began editing that I learned the video would be shown on MTV-U. As we all know, MTV on tv no longer shows videos, so this was the best we can do. It was the first for both Motion Family and myself to be shown on MTV. We are all very excited. Motion Family has worked very hard on their videos and this is a big win for them. I’m very happy for them and extremely happy to have been a part. If you ever need any video work, I highly recommend contacting them. I am now also a huge fan of Sean’s. I will be buying his album when it is released and I recommend everyone do the same. I look forward to maybe working with him in the future. Also, please go to mtvu and vote for Sean this week in their Freshman of the Week contest here.

Louisiana Tech Football Season Ticket Ad

In the previous post, I discussed my recent move to Donnie Bell Design to begin, what should be, a very cool video production/editing position.  Task number one so far, has been the Louisiana Tech season ticket ad for the football season.  Instead of doing the normal, throw some highlights over rock music routine, we decided to concept an original ad showcasing on of the star players and the new head coach, Sonny Dykes.  After a few weeks of starting, scrapping, starting, scrapping and starting again….we arrive at the debut.  This is an ad that we all worked really hard on and are all VERY excited to show off.  I really hope that it does the job it’s intended to do for Louisiana Tech football.  And I really think that this is the beginning of something really awesome at DBD.  Anyway, here you go:
