No Rainbows In Ruston This Week

Before I mention the Louisiana Tech game, I want to take the time out to honor a good friend of mine, Mr. Lee Fletcher.  Lee succombed to the evil demon that is cancer Wednesday night.  He was a completely selfless person that would do anything for anyone.  When I needed to find a new path in life, it was Lee who reached out to me to join the TFG team.  He was always completely supportive of me and my work.  He never hesitated to talk about my talent and put me before him.  He also wrote me, probably the best letter of recommendation I will ever have.  He was loyal to everyone he befriended and especially the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.  He loved them almost as much as life itself.  He would have given the world to Tech if he could.  It’s with that said, that I have decided to continue in Lee’s footsteps and give back to Tech as well as much as I can.  This has already been discussed with Tech and is in the works.  When Lee passed away at St. Francis, his tv was tuned into ESPN2, watching the Dawgs defeat the Warriors.  The score was 24-6 on the screen when he passed.  I will miss Lee Fletcher.  May you rest well my friend.  I will not let you down.

With the big fuss over the new SEC Media rules, and my not being able to show my LSU shots from this season, I completely forgot that I can blog my Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.  With that said, week 2 of the 2009 season brought the Hawai’i Warriors to town.  I believe Hawai’i had the #6 ranked offense in the nation and was riding a 60+ game streak of scoring at least 1 touchdown.  Well, that all ended this past Wednesday night.  The Dawgs showed up in force to ‘Red Out’ the Warriors 27-6, in front of a national audience on ESPN2.

Even the stars of ‘The Exterminators’ on A&E got in on the action.  I couldn’t help myself.  I had to get a picture with them.  If you haven’t seen their show, you need to.  It’s awesome.

Behind The Scenes – Football Game Photography

Last weekend I went to the Louisiana Tech University, home opener, football game. Before the game, I decided to get together with Donald Page and put together a little behind the scenes look at what it’s like to do this.  Needless to say, we flew by the seat of our pants, but I think we have a decent little video here to show.  Because of that, I want to make it into  a series.  The next one will be far less shaky and more planned out.  But for all of you that have emailed me about ‘how to do something’, I hope these videos help.  So enjoy part 1.  Part 2 will be much better.

Getting Published Is Cool – Jumbotron Edition

A few months back, I did a promotional photoshoot for the Louisiana Tech University football team.  Well, this past weekend was the first home game of the 2009 season, and the revealing of the spank new jumbtron in the endzone.  Well, Tech decided that one of my images, combined with design skills of Donnie Bell, should be used to cover the back of it.  I have to admit, it looks really good.  So thank you Tech for using my shot.  And thank you Donnie for doing it justice.

Getting Published is Cool – 2009 LA Tech Splash Page Edition

Once a year I offer up my design skills to my Alma Mater for the purpose of creating some kick ass graphics to promote the upcoming football season.  This year was a bit different.  This year features both my design and my photography.  I think it turned out really well.  He is to the hopes of having another great season at LA Tech.
