My Hobby

Picture 37

To some this will sound stupid, to others, not so stupid.  It’s no secret that I still enjoy my childhood hobby of baseball card collecting.  It’s not the same industry it was when we were kids, but it’s still fun for sure.  I think that we all should hold on to a little piece of what made us happy when we were kids.   Otherwise, what do we have?  So, I decided to start a blog devoted to my hobby.  But not just talking to them.  I wanted to take my photographic and graphic design knowledge and apply it to the hobby.  My blog is a free wordpress blog for now, just to see if this thing actually takes off.  If it does, I’ll spice it up a lot more.  But for now it will look cheap and that’s fine.  If you want to follow the blog, visit Sports Card Design.  It should be fun.

Great Quote

‘High Praise Indeed’

The best thing to say to an artist of any kind might be, “someday, people will think what you did is really important.”

If it’s popular with everyone right away, it might not be art, it might just be good marketing. But if it earns attention and respect over time, if it wins over the skeptical, then you’ve really created something.

Sweet Dreams – Nikon Festival Submission

Well, we didn’t make the top 50 unfortunately, but I’d like to share my submission to the Nikon Festival.  The premise of the contest was ‘A Day In The Life’, in 140 seconds.  So we took the approach of a dream of a day in the life.  We had a lot of fun making it.  It was exhausting too.  I have a video I’m proud of, win or lose.

2010 To Do – Ongoing List

In no particular order, the things I need to do by the end of 2010 (ongoing):

1.  Own a spank new F-150

2.  Go on an awesome trip with my awesome and beautiful wife

3.  Own an Xbox that actually works

4.  Shoot an athletes portrait for a print magazine.  I don’t care who it is

5.  Attend Voodoo Fest.  We missed out this year.

6.  Be interviewed/featured by someone.

7.  Win some Gold Addy’s

8.  Laugh at a former employer who said I wouldn’t be successful.

9.  Shoot a major bowl game (check, Sugar Bowl Jan. 1).  X

10.  Shoot a music video.

11.  Hang out with Rob Dyrdek

12.  Get a tricked out MacBook Pro

More to come….

Milestone – 1,000 Views

Wow, I thought this was pretty cool.  I know it’s not a lot by YouTube standards, but it’s a lot for me.  I checked yesterday, and the Vampire video has reached 1,000 views on YouTube.  Technically as I type this, it’s at 1,023.  So thanks everybody for checking it out and for the support.  There are many more videos to come.  Trust me.
