Sports Graphic Design Part 1 – Chris Cooley
On my old site you may have noticed a gallery called ‘Sports Design’ or ‘Sports Graphic Design’ or something like that. For those of you who don’t know this about me, I have a degree in Graphic Design. That’s right, I went to Louisiana Tech University and earned my degree in Graphic Design, NOT photography. **Quick note: Louisiana Tech University is awesome. I think it’s one of the top art programs in the state of Louisiana. Hands down. This is in no means, a cut to that program. I’m just stating that I happened to get my degree in design from there.** With that said, not only do a fancy myself a pretty good designer, but I LOVE sports. Duh, you should know that by now. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to do some pretty awesome things, graphically, for some pretty awesome people just by putting my neck out there. Today I would like to share part one of this little series: Chris Cooley.
For those of you who don’t know, Chris Cooley is a Tight End for the Washington Redskins. He also has his own blog, which you can find here. I highly recommend visiting this blog all the time. It’s hilarious and awesome. Chris is a very down to earth guy it would seem but reading this blog and watching his videos. I could definitely hang with this guy and it would feel just like hanging with my real life friends. Anyway, I stumbled across this blog when it very first started, and was hooked. I enjoy the humor, behind the scenes look at things and also the charity work that Chris does. He has an online shop called ‘Shop 47′. Unless things have changed and he has gotten a new charity, all the proceeds from his online sales go to benefit a breast cancer charity that he has chosen. With all this said, I offered to do some graphic design work for his blog. To my surprise, I had a response that day, and everything was a go. Ok this is getting long. Working with these guys has been awesome, and here are two examples I did for his site:

As I said, working with these guys was awesome and I’m proud to see my work on a site that so many people visit. I hope to do more work with them, now that I have resigned from my fulltime job to focus on being creative fulltime. Again, visit his blog often. It’s highly entertaining.
