Shaun Grant

I’m currently in the middle of editing a music video for the hip-hop group, Kidz In The Hall. Who are excellent, by the way. I stopped to check my Facebook messages when a YouTube video caught my eye. It is the new single by Ne-Yo. This normally wouldn’t catch my eye at all, except for the fact that my very very good friend Shaun Grant is in this video. Shaun went to college with me and is currently working himself up the ranks in both acting and fashion modeling. You may have seen him on my site….

…at the :51 second mark, you’ll see Shaun on the left of the screen (bald head). This is a small role, but I’m proud of Shaun. Any talent scouts that may be reading this, you can contact Shaun here and find links and galleries to his work. Definitely contact him. Good work Shaun, from one up and comer to another, keep grinding.

Matt Lange on YouTube

Just wanted to remind everyone that I have my own YouTube channel. I’m not sure I ever actually plugged it on the blog. All of my videos will eventually end up on this channel, including one random video from LSU football tailgating. So check them out here, and below:

This one is a little long.

Shot with Canon G10.

Music Video – Announcement

In the next couple of months, I will be directing and shooting my first ever music video. The artist and song will be named later, but for now I want to announce that I need help! That’s not a desperate plea, but the greatest asset you can have, are people themselves. I’ll need people to a) be in the video and b) help out any way I need help. If you are someone who’d be interested in this, please let me know. I don’t imagine this video will take more than 2 days to shoot. There are no paying positions. This is something myself and the artist are doing, simply for the love of being creative. So anyone who comes on, will also being doing it for the same reason. Just to be part of something. So email me or hit me on facebook if you’re interested. Oh yeah, it’s going to be in Baton Rouge, LA. So if you’re coming from out of town, it’s on you but that would be awesome!

Anyone with any video/camera gear, I’d be honored to borrow it!

So there it is. Can’t wait to get this rolling.

-Matt

Photographer’s Diary – Stand Still

**RANDOM THOUGHT**
This morning I was looking for some work to blog and it hit me, that I don’t have any. Sort of. I have a lot of work that I have done for Louisiana Tech Athletics that I simply can’t show yet. SEC rules prevent me from blogging my LSU games and I have some other work for publication that simply hasn’t been, well, published yet. So it’s a surreal feeling. I guess that means I need to go out there and create some personal work to show.

To do this week: Finish editing secret project, help shoot 2 music videos, potentially edit 3 music videos and prepare for about 2-3 weeks of straight shooting and editing. Seems like things are picking up steam.

Tuesday Inspiration: Chase Jarvis: The Blakes: Ramshackle Hearse

Few things:

Have I met Chase Jarvis? No

Would I like to meet Chase? Absolutely

Is it odd that I promote other photographers on my blog?  Probably to some people, but not me

Do I like this video? Yes – for the most part. There is some amazing lighting, incredible landscapes and fantastic slow motion.

Do I like the song? Honestly? No. But then again, I’m a hip-hop guy. Who knows, it may grow on me.

Why am I putting it on here?  This is a great thing.  Photographers stepping out of their comfort zones to try something new.  I love it.  Chase is a commercial photographer out of Seattle, WA who does some directing. But for the most part, from what I can tell, will usually just stay in the realm of still photography. Clearly I’m a fan of this, given the recent post with the Vampire Temptress, aka my wife Chelsea.  I am also stepping on the music video front for my good friend Chris Keegan, soon.  So this is particularly interesting to me.  Anyway, check out his video.  Then click here to see some behind the scenes. Enjoy.
